This really would make a grand old home wouldn’t it? It would be intriguing to find out who the original owners were who built this home. It’s not in the most ideal location of the city, but it definitely is for someone with big dreams. There is a sign out front that lists it for sale. If you are interested call: 845-351-5000. If you need some inspiration for what these buildings can become, check out the before and after series.
Newburgh is New York State’s second largest historic district after NYC. Newburgh literally has hundreds of dilapidated and abandoned buildings just begging for someone to come scoop them up and restore them. I’ll continue to post my own photos, but if you have a particular building you would like to see saved, email me the photo of any building you appreciate that you would like to see rescued!
Location: 152 3rd Street, Newburgh, NY
I would just like to chime in that I agree. Take a chance it may not be in the best location BUT how can a location change unless we march in and make a difference. My husband and decided to do just that 8 years agao and although our little community is challenge there is a small pocket of homeowners that are slowly making a change.
Well said Alicia!
I’ve always wondered about this house as well. I think the Mansard roof is definitely a later addition due to the way the 3rd story windows break up the roof line. I could imagine this was a very stately hipped roof mansion at one time. I’m sure the rooms inside are enormous.
Now that I look at the roof, I think you are right Michael. I bet there is an original photo at the library or historical society.
Listed at $150K.

Thanks Matthew. I’m sure that price can be negotiated.
This is a very beautiful home. Lots of potential.
