The Chapman Steamer Firehouse is one of the last few original firehouses (one more here) in the City of Newburgh. Over the years, we have all been watching it carefully to see what will become of it. We were all saddened when the last plans fell through, but happily it has been bought again by a new young couple! There are no details to share as of yet, but this by itself is great news for the property and the surrounding area.

I’ve always loved this building and had high hopes to buy and be creative. Glad to see another couple being able to do this.
Always thought it would make an awesome house.
I have such wonderful memories in that building!!
Love this building!
Oh do a nice job on it. I remember when the park came right over next to it and south street did not go thru. I would love to see the inside.
My Dad worked there slid down the pole several times..
I have always wanted to see the inside of this building
I hope they’re artists. My studio is just down the street. Dubois is lookin’ up.
I already told them they need to meet you!
The new owners should use it as a headquarters for a Ghostbusters franchise!
Wonderful news. This building needs to be preserved. Hopefully all permitting will be easy and helpful. Good luck to the new owners.
My uncle, “Bud” Whitaker was the Fire Chief here for many, many years and it saddens me to pass it as it decayed. Soo happy it is finally happening!
My brother Paul Peet would stay over night at times while he worked for Mobile Life as an EMT. I remember visiting him and he got a call, slid down the fire pole and sped off in the Ambulence.
