The grand opening date of the Newburgh Urban Market is on May 31st! The market will be located on Liberty Street next to Washington’s Headquarters on select Saturdays from May till October 2014. Many vendors have already signed up such as antiques and vintage clothing vendors, food trucks, farmers, jewelry, crafts and more. To make the market a success and to offset the costs of starting this venture we are offering corporate sponsorship opportunities.
Mission: The goal of the Newburgh Urban Market is to promote the revitalization, economic development of downtown Newburgh and the already burgeoning Liberty Street Corridor. We are promoting the walkability of the City of Newburgh as well as pop-up shops. The market will also serve as a testing ground for vendors interested in opening a brick and mortar shop in the City. We want people to Discover Newburgh!
Sponsorship Amount: $250
Sponsorship Includes the following during the 2014 season:
Sponsorship deadline is May 5th. Payment can be received via Paypal or check. If you would like to become a sponsor please email newburghurbanmarket@gmail.com for further details.
This is interesting. A new sign is up in the storefront of 101 Liberty Street says “Coming Soon…Newburgh Chess Club.” We have yet to get a hold of the owner, but a source says that this space will be home to a chess club and a bookstore. If the bookstore bit is true that will be some very welcomed news. The City of Newburgh could really use a bookstore and hang out spot for the community. We’ll keep you posted when we find out more!
A new children’s boutique is coming to Liberty Street! It will be located at 118 Liberty and the grand opening is this Sunday, at 1pm. They will sell new and gently used children and baby items. Store hours will be Mon- Friday 4-7PM Sat-Sun 11:00- 6 PM.
For questions you can contact aribellasboutique@yahoo.com. It’s lovely to see a new shop added to Liberty Street corridor. Help these new business owners and visit shop here whenever possible. You’ll be keeping your dollars local.

All kinds of wonderful things are happening over at Atlas Industries warehouse. If you are curious about what goes on behind the walls on Spring Street, all you have to do is check out their Instagram account. They look like they are having a blast, literally. They have posted a video showing what it takes to remove the cinder block out of the many windows that have boarded up the warehouse. And oh, what a difference it makes! Imagine renting a studio in this building with those windows! They already have a few tenants but are waiting for more inspections to go through before officially offering space. In the meanwhile they are providing a beautiful backdrop for photo shoots and seem to be just having a great time in the process.
Have you seen the paper up in the windows of 87 Ann Street? It used to be Newburgh Artisans, but thankfully the shop will not remain empty. A new business is going to be opening very soon: Rue du Temple, or in English, Road to Temple. It is the brainchild of Paul Huber, who was inspired by the double dome synagogue on William Street. He saw it as he rode down Washington St on his way to his new storefront. The journey reminded him of the famous Jewish and arts quarter of Rue du Temple in Marais, Fance. He interprets the name of his business to mean the “road to the mind and creativity.”
Paul’s shop will have art, books, antiques and more. He even has some future ambitions he would like to bring to Newburgh. Perhaps the most inspiring part of Paul’s story is that he moved to Newburgh when he realized he wanted to open up a business here. He stumbled upon the city on a drive from Connecticut to NYC. Now, Paul not only is helping the burgeoning businesses opening on the Liberty Street corridor, but he is also joining the ranks of professionals who realize living and working in the City of Newburgh is a great idea.
We will keep you updated on his soft/grand opening.
Rue du Temple is one of 5 new businesses/ventures coming to this area! Hooray for Newburgh!
