Newburgh Armory Community Garden

It has been another summer full of urban gardening in the City of Newburgh. One group that has gardening non stop is the Newburgh Armory Community Garden. These pictures are of the San Miguel Community Garden at the corner of Lander and Farrington. The lot was just recently cleaned up and now they are using the space for a garden. If you become a fan on Facebook, you’ll see other photos of projects like the greenhouse that was recently put up. In the background you can see a couple of Rescue Me houses. It might be nice to restore a home a live next to a community garden. Save theses homes before someone tears them down.

A really great review just came in from a City of Newburgh resident on the best falafel in Newburgh at the River View Pizzeria at 108 Broadway, 845-561-2923.

They make one of the best falafels I’ve ever had. Only $2.75 for a sandwich. They have baklava on the menu, but they haven’t had it every time I ask.  They also catered the musical event – Queen of the Hudson– with stuffed grape leaves, hummus, pita and falafel balls. There’s a bunch of sketchy, but harmless, folks hanging around all the time, so I don’t think most people would venture in without knowing how good they are. The people at city hall didn’t even know about it.

Falafels are usually the go-to food for vegans and vegetarians, and it’s great to find out that there are some affordable options in Newburgh. They are located across the street from of the Cornerstone Building.
